Top Small Business Blogs to Read in 2013

If you are looking for some of the best hand-picked small business blogs to read and inspire you in 2013, you’ve stumbled upon the right place! This blog post will share a part of my business blog reading list. You can add your favourite small business blog to the list – or share the list to your readers, too, if you want…

best small business blogs

You see, I love business blogging. While many bloggers enjoy posting fail videos, rants and weird stuffs, I – and also many others – love sharing to our readers who are looking for tips and ideas on how to start a business or manage their business better.

Not only a blogger, I am also a blog stumbler; I love reading business-oriented blogs, tapping for ideas and trends… and quite possibly my future blog posts or even business ventures! I can share you my reading list, but that would be a rather daunting task as I have literally read thousands of blog posts from hundreds of business blogs.

But no worries – I do have some favourites I regularly visit, and I do need your help for growing my rather smallish list of top small business blogs (you can share the list on your blog, if you want to – it’s easy!)

Top small business blogs

Here’s the hopefully-to-be a complete list of small business blogs worth reading… enjoy! (or skip to my top 3 pick here)

My top 3 must-read small business blogs

Of course, there are some favouites among the listed blog… if you are curious enough, here is my top 3 small business blogs I regularly read and why…

1. Small Business Trends

The authority in small business blog. Period. But that’s not why I visited SmallBizTrends.com early on; it’s because of Anita Campbell, the Owner and CEO. She is a popular small business publisher and a role model to many web publishers, including me.

Of course, the blog posts’ quality speak by themselves; multi-authored by small business owners, experts and professionals, the blog offers useful tips and interesting insight on everything small business.

2. Small Business Branding

I accidentally followed Small Business Branding because I am a follower of Yaro Starak, one of authority bloggers. I followed Yaro’s webpreneurship story, and notice that he was selling his Small Business Branding blog. Since then, the blog has been change ownership a couple of times – and still delivering the same quality as before.

The reason why I visit Small Business Branding regularly is because of Ed Roach’s blog posts. Ed, the branding expert, is the regular writer for the blog for quite some time, and I love his insightful blog posts on business branding.

3. The Franchise King

When it comes to franchising, a figure on top of my mind is Joel Libava. He is, indeed, the franchise king ๐Ÿ™‚ Jokes aside, he is probably one of the most ethical franchise consultant in the US – quite possible in the world. He has no affiliation with any franchises, and his role as a consultant is for his client to be able to decide the best for herself. Everything is noticeable in his blog posts; authoritative and always a useful read.

I read a franchising blog simply because I always have a keen interest on franchising, despite I am practically having a bad track record as a franchisee (I once owned two franchise units – and failed miserably in growing them… ouch!) Joel can give you the much-needed insight for those of you who are considering buying a franchise unit.

    1. Cheers, Niall!

The list will be updated on regular basis… so if you have any recommendations, please feel free to suggest any small biz blogs via our comment system or straight to List.ly ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Blogs are definitely the best source of information for any aspect of a business. I use them regularly to learn how to promote my business online. I follow a lot of the blogs from this list.

  2. You should check out a blog called Funding Gates and one Biz2Credit. Granted, I’m biased b/c my company is in the small business finance space, but I spend a lot of time reading those specific blogs. Funding Gates is cool b/c they’ve managed to bring together a lot of the big players in the space and their content is always specific and actionable instead of a lot of blogs that I feel provide general advice.

  3. Pat Flynn’s “Smart Passive Income Blog”, “Fizzle” and of course, “Seth Godin’s Blog”. All are amazingly informative and inspirational for small businesses. ๐Ÿ™‚

Great list!! I’ve definitely added some new ones to my daily read!
